In Search of Karma

On one hand, there’s no greater joy than seeing Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys continue to find new and interesting ways of imploding late in the season. As a New York Giants fan, one could not gauge the pleasure in seeing the ball hit the turf time and time (and time) again in the first half. Not that I can accurately speak to this, but I equate it to being in the room to witness the birth of your first child. And then your second. Why not make it three? What makes this Cowboys disaster even more gratifying is knowing that because of their late season-postseason run, the probability of Wade Phillips and Romo coming back is that much greater now. Which, as we all know, is great news for the three other NFC East clubs. I was pulling for the Cowboys. I admit it. But while my brief relationship with Dallas was built on a gambling fix, the loss of a few bucks was a small price to pay for having the Cowboys Super Bowl-less for another year.

On the other hand, the Minnesota Vikings win only forces us to endure another full week of the Brett Favre bandwagon. While the size of the S.S. Frontrunner continues to grow relive to the size of annoyance, I still can’t get over that last TD. Did they really run up the score again? KARMA, WHERE ARE YOU? I love how these people are coming out of the woodwork this season, claiming to be big fans of the Vikings. They say, Well, I’m a fan of Brett. Really. REALLY. I might be mistaken (I know I’m not), but I’m pretty sure you weren’t cheering for Green Bay back in the day. And I certainly didn’t notice you rooting for the New York Jets. Oh yeah, right. They — and Favre — weren’t winning back then. Well played. Once the season ends Sunday, maybe Favre can convince Zigi Wilf to fire Brad Childress and then retire (again), only to come back with another team next year.

Can I still  give to Hurricane Katrina relief?
