the 4th star

Now that everyone is back at their cubicles pretending to work, this picture will probably be making the rounds pretty quick. Sent to me by a friend of the 4th Star, with the attached message:

A picture if (sic) my brother’s friend at the Labour Day Classic this year. This was taken by the player’s bus.

Side Note:  He also got a picture taken with Obby Khan along with a few others who actually got off the bus to get there (sic) picture taken as well.  Obby told him that if he really wanted to look like Mike Kelly he should have the word “Dick” across his shirt.  Just sayin’.

Three Things:

1. Not only does it look like Kelly is drinking Pilsner, it looks like it is last year’s stock. Notice the Grey Cup Champions script above the Riders logo on the beer in his right hand. Thanks for letting us kick your ass. Here’s some stale beer.

2. Big smiles from both. Imagine if Kelly’s Heroes were 4-5 at the midway point. It would be like Fantasy Island over there. Of course, a 4-5 record from this group would mean the entire city of Winnipeg would be getting off the plane…

3. Kelly saw this guy and immediately started talking about Philadelphia, Andy Reid, and how he believed the CFL was the NFL. “I coached in the Pro Bowl — bet you didn’t know that.” At one point, Kelly actually thought he was in his hometown, and suggested to the Twin Kelly that they go for a Standard at Johnny Brendas. Assuming he was in his beloved Philly was an easy mistake, though. Regina is also a shithole.

UPDATE: There’s another beauty floating around the internets this morning. The Saskatchewan message board has this one, mocking the Bombers ridiculous move to use white boards to signal in plays to the receivers (who were not going into the huddle). Of course, that scheme worked well when Romby Bryant (I think it was him) mis-read the board and ran the wrong route, leading to a Bombers fumble. Why don’t the Bombers just punt on first down?
