House Organ

An organ deposited by the flood on a farm near Mount Vernon

Much like calling things as they actually are, local media criticizing other local media is a dangerous game. Not only is Winnipeg a small town filled with souls sensitive to debate, but the salvo usually falls short of its intended target. Witness this commentary from the broadcast partner of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-1) today…

That outcome should certainly muffle at least some of Mike Kelly’s critics, not to mention the new kid who indicated he can indeed play quarterback. And there are those of us sitting in the weeds. Excuse Me, but The Doubters, including those in the media which tried to create a monster out of Mike Kelly, are doing some chewing on their own words, and most of them should have known better to reach a conclusion based on one training camp, and one league game.

That’s right, media. You should know better than to reach a conclusion about this  Bomber team based on one training camp and one league game. Anyone who understands the basic framework of sports success knows that conclusions on a football team can only be made after a training camp and TWO league games. The extra contest makes all the difference. Only then can you really get a sense of what a club is truly like. Silly media. What were you thinking?

Coming up next we have the Coach’s Show with Mike Kelly and the Doug Brown Spin Zone…

  3. [...] I’ve taken a poke at former CJOB news director Vic Grant for being a house organ on this blog. Frankly, having the radio broadcast partner putting a positive spin on the Bombers [...]
